About The Program

The National Renewable Energy Research Scholarship 2026 is offered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India. The scholarship is a distinguished financial award designed to support outstanding students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate, or doctoral research in renewable energy and related fields. Selected students will receive ₹20,000 per month.

  • be pursuing an undergraduate/postgraduate/doctoral degree or enrolled as a research scholar in a recognised institute/university within India or abroad, or
  • be working in the RE area in national, international, non-governmental institutes/organisations

The selected scholars will receive a monthly stipend of ₹15,000.

How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Click on the 'REGISTER' button, and select the ‘Student category’.
Step 4: Download the ‘Sandes Application’ on your mobile for mobile number verification.
Step 5: Check OTP in the Sandes Application and enter the same received OTP to complete registration.
Step 6: Fill in the required details and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
Step 7: Check your inbox for receiving temporary password.
Step 8: ‘Login’ to the account using your registered Email ID and password shared via email.
Step 9: After login, click on the ‘Entries’ menu option followed by ‘Internship Form’.
Step 10: Fill required fields in the Internship application and click ‘Submit’.

Important Dates

The application is open every year. Eligible students can apply on a half-yearly basis (preferably January and July).

Note: Applications must be submitted at least one month before the expected date of joining and not more than 3 months in advance of the date of commencement.

Selection Criteria

The interns will be selected based on the eligibility criteria. Offers will be sent to selected interns subject to the availability of slots, consent of the concerned division, and approval of the Selection Committee.

  • Scholarship is available for 6 to 12 months, depending on the research proposal.
  • Scholars must maintain a minimum of 85% attendance for physical research participation.
  • Scholars must submit a comprehensive research report.
