About The Program

MoES Junior Research Fellow Program 2025-26 is an opportunity offered by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India, and the Indian Institute of Tropical Meteorology (IITM). The program is aimed at postgraduate students and will be coordinated by the Development of Skilled Manpower in Earth System Sciences (DESK-ESSC) at IITM Pune. The selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of ₹37,000 with HRA.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • not exceed 28 years of age as of 10 June 2025
  • hold a relevant Master's degree or have appeared in the final year for such a degree
  • have sufficient knowledge about the specific field for which they want to apply for the fellowship
  • have qualified NET/GATE/LS (CSIR/UGC/ICAR)
  • have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (General and OBC applicants)
  • have secured a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in the qualifying examination (for SC/ST/PwBD applicants)

Note:-

  • Applicants interested in obtaining a fellowship from CSIR, UGC, or ICAR while working as Junior Research Fellows (JRF) in the MRFP are encouraged to apply. These candidates should indicate their fellowship preference in the online application form, specifying whether they wish to receive the MRFP or the CSIR/UGC/ICAR fellowship.
  • The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC, ST, Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD) and women applicants, and 3 years for OBC (Non-creamy layer) applicants.
