About The Program
The Mitsui & Co. Scholarship Program for India 2025 is offered by Mitsui & Co., Ltd., a leading global trading and investment company headquartered in Japan. The scheme is a fully funded five-year initiative aimed at encouraging the next generation of professionals who are proficient in the Japanese language and culture. This program aims to strengthen economic and cultural ties between India and Japan by supporting Indian students in pursuing undergraduate studies in Japan. Selected candidates will receive a monthly living allowance of JPY 1,45,000 and other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an unmarried Indian citizen less than 21 years as of 1 April 2026
- have secured a minimum of 80% marks in HSC/SSC (CBSE or ICSE board)
- possess a Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) N3/N4 certificate
- possess a character certificate from their school and a health certificate from a doctor
Note:-
- Applicant must have a fitness certificate from a doctor
- If you have cleared JLPT(Japanese-Language Proficiency Test) N4 and are preparing for N3, that may also be considered based on language proficiency
- The applicant can use a JLPT N4 certificate if they have cleared it and are currently preparing for a N3 certificate.
- For a commerce background, applicants must have a curriculum that includes Mathematics, Economics, Business Studies, and English.
- For a science background, applicants must have a curriculum that includes Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English.
Benefits
The selected students will receive:-
- A monthly living allowance of JPY 1,45,000.
- A one-time arrival allowance of JPY 50,000.
- A one-way, economy-class air ticket to and from New Delhi and Tokyo within 1 year of the expiration of the scholarship provision.
- Complete tuition fee of the Japanese language training centre and the university.
- Travel and accident insurance for the duration of the scholarship program.
- Monthly lodging subsidy of JPY 5,000 (1st year)/ JPY 25,000 (2nd-5th year) for dormitory or arranged stay
Note:-
- The cost of textbooks is included in the scholarship.
- Meals, local transportation and other expenses are not included in the scholarship.
- The total duration of the scholarship is 5 years with no extension.

- Enterprise Management, Accounting, Commerce & Marketing, Finance, Insurance, Industrial Relations, Econometrics, International Economics, etc.
- Medical science, Pharmaceutical science and Veterinary science are excluded under this scholarship.
- Candidates must submit academic records and periodic status reports to the program.
- Candidates must participate in meetings to report updates held by the program.
- Candidates cannot work or earn a profit during their stay in Japan without prior written approval from the program.
- Candidates must engage socially with Mitsui and other grantees to discuss the scholarship's impact and feedback.
- Candidates must indicate their preferred university & field of study for program approval. Candidates must secure admission based on their performance in the entrance exam.
- Change of major or field of study after entrance to a selected university is not allowed.
