About The Program

The METI Government of Japan Internship 2026 is an esteemed, fully funded internship program offered by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan. This program provides international students with the opportunity to gain professional experience by working in Japanese companies for six weeks. The selected students will receive up to JPY 3,000 per day with other benefits.

 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a citizen of India
  • be proficient in JLPT N3 or higher, or English
  • be between 18 and 39 years old as of 24 August 2026
  • be currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a university
  • submit an enrollment or graduation certificate and a letter of recommendation
  • be able to fully commit to the internship schedule


Note:- Applicants residing in Japan are not eligible to apply.

Benefits

Applicants applying to online programs will receive:-

  • PC, internet, and communication tools provided for internship activities.
  • Local currency or equivalent of JPY 1,000 per day for the duration of the internship.

Applicants applying to in-person programs will receive:-

  • Transportation expenses for commuting to the training facility.
  • Accommodation during training.
  • Daily allowance of JPY 3,000 paid in instalments based on internship duration.
  • A mobile phone for communication.
  • Round-trip economy-class airfare.
  • Travel insurance coverage during the internship.
  • Visa assistance for entry into Japan.
  • The host company’s support for accommodation and workplace transportation.
Documents
  • Academic transcripts (proof of qualifications)
  • CV showcasing professional achievements
  • Personal statement explaining their motivation for the internship
  • Enrollment or graduation certificate
  • A letter of recommendation from a professor or employer
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Scroll down to 'ENTRY FOR FOREIGN TALENT' and click on it.
Step 4: Fill in the required details and click on the 'Send' button for provisional registration.
Step 5: You will receive an email containing the URL to the application form. Fill in the required fields.
Step 6: Once you have submitted the form, you will receive an 'Application Complete' email at your registered email address, confirming that your application has been successfully submitted.
