About The Program

The Medtronic Spark Scholarship Program is offered by the Institute of International Education (IIE) in partnership with Medtronic. The scholarship is a prestigious financial award designed to support outstanding students from underprivileged communities pursuing undergraduate degrees in engineering, healthcare, or related STEM fields. Selected candidates will receive an award of up to $15,000 towards educational expenses for 1 year.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

General Eligibility

  • be pursuing a career in health tech or a related healthcare field,
  • be enrolled in undergraduate degrees or credential programs. Graduate degrees (Master’s, PhD, MD, etc.) are not eligible
  • be enrolled (or planning to enroll) at an accredited institution
  • demonstrate significant financial need

For Undergraduate Degree Applicants (2–4 year programs)

  • have strong academic performance
  • minimum 2.5 GPA on a 4.0 scale (or international equivalent)
  • open to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd year undergraduate students

Job-Ready Credential Program Applicants

  • have completed high school/secondary education
  • enroll in a credential program starting between June 2026 and May 2027

The selected students will receive a scholarship of up to $15,000 (in the U.S.) or up to USD$10,000 (outside of the U.S.) per year.
