About The Program

The KWI International Fellowship Programme 2025 is offered by the Kulturwissenschaftliches Institut Essen (Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities). To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be an international researcher or scholar 
  • holds a PhD degree
  • have up to six years of post-doctoral experience
  • have a research project that aligns with KWI's research focus areas in cultural studies, humanities, or social sciences
  • be proficient in English 

Note: 

  • Post-doctoral experience is counted from the date of PhD completion (PhDs completed in 2020 or later are eligible for this application).
  • The programme is open to individual researchers only; applications from groups or teams will not be considered.
  • Early-career and senior researchers from all countries are encouraged to apply.

The selected fellows will receive a monthly stipend of €3,000.
