About The Program

The International Summer Internship (MPIIB-ISI) Program 2026 is an opportunity provided by the Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology (MPIIB) to undergraduate students pursuing biology-related courses. This is a two-month internship that provides an opportunity for students to be a part of cutting-edge research in the field of life sciences. The selected candidates will receive a stipend of €1,400 (₹1,44,243 approx.) and other benefits.

To be eligible, applicants must:-

  • be currently enrolled in a university (enrollment is required to obtain a visa).  
  • have completed at least four semesters (two years) of undergraduate study at the time of application, if they have not yet earned a Bachelor’s degree.  
  • have a strong academic record.  
  • possess a background relevant to the internship project (e.g., biology, medicine, biochemistry, epidemiology, or related fields).  
  • have good proficiency in English.  
  • be able to clearly express their motivation for both the internship program and the specific project of interest.  
  • demonstrate valid reasons for limited access to first-class higher education opportunities.  
  • undertake a voluntary internship (those requiring academic credit cannot be accepted)
Benefits

Selected candidates will receive:-

  • A stipend of €1,400 (₹1,44,243 approx.) to cover living expenses in Berlin
  • Travel expenses
  • Accommodation close to the institute

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1:

Selection Criteria

The candidate will be selected through a three-step evaluation process, which includes: 

  • Pre-selection: All applications are reviewed, and a shortlist of qualified candidates is prepared.  
  • Interviews: Shortlisted candidates are invited to attend an online interview.  
  • Acceptance: Selected candidates will receive an official MPIIB-ISI offer letter via email after the interview.
Terms and Conditions

Applicants must be available for the full internship period between August 1 and October 31, 2026 (extensions beyond this period are not possible under visa regulations).
