To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- hold a Ph.D. in Physical Sciences / Astronomy / Astrophysics (or thesis submitted before joining)
- exceptionally bright in their academics
- be under 32 years of age at the time of application
- demonstrate high-quality research potential in observational, theoretical astrophysics, or astronomical instrumentation
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive the following benefits:-
- A monthly fellowship of ₹75,000 for candidates with up to 2 years of post-doctoral experience and ₹80,000 for the ones who have experience of more than 2 years
- An annual contingency grant of ₹2,00,000
- Housing (subject to availability), medical, and other benefits under the prevailing rules of the institute
- Travel support by economy airfare at the time of taking up the assignment
