Heinrich Böll Foundation Doctoral Scholarship 2026

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

• be doctoral candidates from Germany, including German nationals and students with German educational qualifications, pursuing doctoral studies in Germany or other EU countries (all disciplines) or  
• be international doctoral candidates from within or outside the EU, including refugees, seeking doctoral positions in Germany (all disciplines).  
• be international doctoral candidates who completed their undergraduate studies in their home country are especially encouraged to apply.   
• be doctoral candidates from Germany or abroad applying for the “Research Cluster Socio-Ecological Transformation” (all disciplines) 

(Note:- Priority will be given to applicants from DAC countries who are residing in their home country at the time of application.)

The selected scholars shall receive: 

• €1400 per month
• € 100 mobility allowance per month
• Other individual allowances

• Previous academic transcripts
• Enrolment certificate
• Written proof of good German language skills
• Social commitment reference
• 2 Expert Reports from university lecturers (Academic Reference)
