College Board - the non–profit organization that owns the SAT college entrance exam - invites applications for the College Board India Scholars Program 2018-19. The program gives an opportunity to top performers in SAT to get up to 100% tuition fee waiver. Additionally, students can also get an opportunity to take the SAT for free this year.
The academically talented but economically weaker students from India who score above a certain level in SAT will be designated as College Board India Scholars. The education of these College Board India Scholars will be co-funded by the College Board and India Alliance Members.

Q. What is the SAT?
A. The SAT is a globally available test accepted by all U.S. and many international colleges and universities. All Indian universities that are part of the College Board’s India Higher Education Global Alliance initiative will accept SAT as an entrance exam for students from India and around the world. The SAT is administered four times a year in India in the months of March, May, October, and December. The SAT makes it easier for students to show their best work and measures what students learn in school and what they need to succeed in college.
Q. What is College Board Scholars Program?
A. Students who score 1350 or more out of a total score of 1600 on the SAT exam will be recognized by the College Board in April/May 2019 as College Board India Top Performers. Top performers from families with significant financial need (see eligibility criteria above) will be eligible to apply for a 100% college tuition scholarship at any of the participating Indian universities. Students need to be in Grade 12 when they take the SAT to qualify for the College Board Scholars program.
Q. Can I participate in the College Board Scholars Program if I take the SAT exam in Grade 11?
A. Students of Class 11 can avail 100% SAT Fee Waiver, and they may use their SAT scores to apply at Indian Alliance member universities for admissions. However, to qualify for the College Board Scholars program, students need to take the SAT exam in Grade 12 for the 2018-2019 session.
If any student took the SAT exam while in Grade 11, he/she will need to take the SAT exam again in Grade 12 to qualify for the College Board Scholars program.

Q. How can you request for a SAT fee reduction voucher?
A. Students who meet the eligibility criteria (as listed above) should click on the “Request for SAT Fee Reduction Voucher” button to apply for the SAT fee reduction voucher. Upon receipt of the voucher from Buddy4Study, student should register and redeem the SAT voucher at the College Board SAT registration website and register for the 1st December 2018 or 9th March 2019 SAT exam. Redeem the fee reduction voucher within 5 days of receipt of voucher from B4S or prior to registration deadline whichever date is earlier.

Q. How much does the SAT Exam cost?
A. The registration fee for the SAT in India are as follows: SAT without Essay: USD 96.50 (~INR 6,750); SAT with Essay: USD 113.50 (~INR 8,000). However, eligible students can request for a 100% fee reduction SAT voucher from Buddy4Study for the SAT exams in December 2018 and March 2019.
Q. What is the amount of the SAT fee reduction voucher and what is the validity?
A. The SAT fee reduction voucher is for a 100% discount for the SAT test in December 2018 and March 2019. The details will be mentioned in the electronic SAT fee reduction voucher that will be emailed to you after you request for the voucher and meet the eligibility criteria. You should redeem your SAT fee reduction voucher in 5 working days from receipt of the voucher. If there are less than 5 working days to the registration deadline, then please redeem your voucher as soon as possible to avail of the 100% discount.
Q. Do I need to take the Essay option with the SAT exam?
A. Indian universities that are part of the College Board's India Global Higher Education Alliance DO NOT require the essay for admissions. However, some colleges and universities in US and around the world may require the essay for their admission processes. If you plan to apply to colleges and universities in the US, please refer to their college admission websites for information on essay requirement.
Q. How long is the SAT test and what is tested in the exam?
A. The SAT is three hours long, with an added 50 minutes for the essay (optional). The SAT consists of two sections: Math and Evidence-Based Reading and Writing. The Essay is an optional component of the SAT. The test focusses on skills and knowledge that the student learns in high schools and what they need to succeed in college.
