About The Program

The BCWD Post-Matric Scholarship, Karnataka 2026 is offered by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka. The objective of this scheme is to provide post-matric scholarship facility to the day scholar students of backward classes studying in post-matric courses in residential colleges in any department, hostel, who do not get admission and are not selected under the Vidyasiri scheme. Selected candidates will receive up to ₹20,000 per annum.

EligibilityDeadline Date: 15-Feb-2026

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a permanent resident of Karnataka
  • be included in the OBC list notified by the central/state
  • be pursuing postmatric courses in government/local body/aided institutions/recognised unaided private institutions under the statutory universities of Karnataka
  • have an annual family income not exceeding ₹2,50,000 (Category 1) or ₹1,00,000 (Category 2A, 3A, 3B)
  • have passed the previous year's annual examination with a minimum mark of 60% (Category 1) or 70% (others)

Note:-

  • Students repeating a course/class are ineligible.
  • Management Quota, Private Seat in Private College and ComedK seat type students are ineligible.
  • Postgraduate medical students are ineligible if they are practising medicine during the duration of their course.
  • Only two boys of the same family are eligible. However, this rule does not apply to girls.

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1:
