About The Program
The BCWD Ph.D. Fellowship, Karnataka 2026 is offered by the Backward Classes Welfare Department, Government of Karnataka, to students of backward classes pursuing higher studies abroad. Selected candidates will receive a ₹10,000 monthly stipend.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- be an Indian citizen and a permanent resident of Karnataka
- not exceeding 35 years of age
- belong to the OBC list notified by the central/state
- have secured a minimum of 55% marks in the Master’s
- be pursuing full-time Ph.D. studies in the statutory universities/affiliated institutions of Karnataka
- be registered for Ph.D studies under research mentorship in universities/authorised institutions
- have an annual family income not exceeding ₹4,50,000 (Category I) or ₹3,50,000 (other)
- not receive other fundings
Note:-
- The registration must be within 2 years before the date of application for tuition/fellowship, and the student must be engaged in first year Ph.D studies from the date of application.
- Only 2 male students from a single family are eligible; females are exempt from this restriction.
