About The Program

The ANRF-National Post Doctoral Fellowship (N-PDF) 2025 is a prestigious initiative by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, aimed at identifying and supporting motivated young researchers in the frontier areas of science, engineering, and medicine. This fellowship provides a platform for early-career scientists to conduct independent research under the mentorship of established researchers at recognised academic and R&D institutions across India. The selected candidates will receive an annual research grant of ₹2,00,000 and other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: 30-Jun-2025

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian citizen
  • not exceed 35 years of age at the time of application
  • have a Ph.D. degree in Science or Engineering, or an M.D or M.S. degree in any area of medicine from a recognised university

Note:-

  • Age relaxation of 5 years will be provided for SC/ST/OBC/physically challenged and female candidates.
  • Applicants who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting the award of the degree are also eligible.
  • N-PDF can be availed of only once in a candidate’s career.
  • Applicants can apply to only one scheme (NPDF, SRG, or EMR) in the same calendar year.
Benefits

Selected candidates will receive:-

  • A fellowship of ₹80,000 per month plus applicable HRA (₹50,000 per month plus applicable HRA for candidates who are yet to receive their degrees)
  • A research grant of ₹2,00,000 per year
  • An overhead of ₹1,00,000 per year

Note:-

  • The fellowship is tenable for 2 years only in India.
  • Research grants can cover minor equipment, consumables, contingencies, and domestic travel.
  • Fellows cannot work with their PhD guide/co-guide, use the same institution where they earned their PhD/M.S/M.D, or receive other fellowships during their tenure.

Step 1:

Selection Criteria

Candidates will be selected based on the recommendations of an expert committee, and through interviews if required.
