To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be a resident of India
- be between the ages of 21 years and 30 years
- hold a postgraduate degree with a minimum of 60% marks or 6 CGPA on a scale of 10 in any stream from a recognised university
- hold a graduate degree in Engineering/Medical Law/CA/CS streams with a minimum of 60% marks or 6 CGPA on a scale of 10 from a recognised university
- have excellent communication/presentation/interpersonal/soft skills
- be fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
Note -
- Applicants with work experience in the relevant field will be given priority.
- Additional educational or technical qualifications and experience in the relevant field will be prioritised.
- A candidate must possess a laptop and internet facility to apply for the internship.
Benefits
Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 30,000 and INR 2,500 for laptop connectivity and mobility support. The selected candidates will also receive a certificate after the successful completion of the internship.
Note -
- The stipend payment for the final quarter of the internship will be withheld if the intern fails to submit a complete and satisfactory final report to the designated authority during that quarter.
- In the event that an intern decides to leave the assignment or internship within one month of joining, no stipend or any other form of remuneration will be provided.
- Each intern will be entitled to one casual leave per month, which will be accumulated on a monthly basis.
- If an intern takes leave without collecting enough casual leaves, the stipend payment for that leave day will be deducted from their monthly payment.

Eligible candidates can apply for the position using the steps listed below-
Step 1: Click the ‘Apply Now’ button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button on the right-hand side of the dashboard and fill in the required details to 'Register'. (Note - If already registered, log in using the registered email ID)
Step 3: Click on the ‘Registration’ tab, and select the ‘Citizen’ option given below. (Note - Candidates already registered can use valid credentials to log in)
Step 4: Now click on the ‘Google’ icon to select the email address to fill up the required details to complete the registration.
Step 5: After registering successfully, log in using the valid credentials and go to the ‘Young Interns Program’ option.
Step 6: Fill in the application form with the required information and upload the necessary documents to complete the application.

Selection Criteria
Selections will be made based on the ‘intent write-up’ submitted by the candidates. A selection committee will be constituted with no less than three members including the chairman.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited for group discussions and personal interviews. The selection process will be based on the following criteria -
- Intent write-up - 50 marks
- Group Discussion (G.D.) - 50 marks
- Personal Interview (P.I.) - 100 marks

Terms and Conditions
- The government reserves the right to terminate the internship at any point in time without any obligation.
- If an intern is found guilty of misbehaviour and misconduct or the performance of any candidate is not satisfactory, then the committee can terminate the internship of the candidate with immediate effect and without any further explanation.
- If a candidate abandons the internship then the payment will be stopped immediately and the stipend for the last month will be released only after the submission of the internship report.
- Interns are not allowed to indulge in any additional job/work during the internship.
- The internship does not commit permanent employment at DES or the concerned department/divisional HQ or DES during or after the internship.
- Students will receive a certificate once they complete the internship.
- No certificate will be awarded to the interns who leave the assignment/internship before completion or have been terminated from the internship.
- Depending on the performance of the interns, the nodal officer/mentor can consider extending the duration of the internship by one more year with six months at a time.
