About The Program

Applications are invited throughout the year for Women Scientists Scheme (WOS-A) by Department of Science and Technology (DST), Govt of India. This scheme is specially meant for the women candidates, preferably those having break in their career and not having employed anywhere. Stipend of Rs 35 thousand per month for three years and research grant upto Rs 23 lakh will be provided for the research purpose.

  • Women candidate having employment.
  • Age between 27 to 50 years.
  • Minimum Postgraduate degree in Basic or Applied Sciences or B.Tech. or MBBS or other equivalent professional qualifications.
  • Women scientists having a Ph.D. in Basic or Applied Sciences or M.Tech. or MD/MS, DM/MCH in Medical Sciences from recognized Universities.
  • Age relaxation of 5 years would be given to candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC and physically challenged.
How can you apply?

The application can be done online with following steps:

Step 1: Read all the sections given in WOS-A website.

Step 2: On the right side of the screen, there is an option of Online Submission System

Step 3: Click on the Submit PES Here Use only first and the last name for registering. (Don't provide your middle name).

Step 4: Log in Id and password will be intimated through email.

Step 5: Fill all the Personal Details as your name, correspondence address etc.

Step 6: In the next step, fill Highest Educational Qualification Details.

Step 7: In the last step, fill your Proposal Details as what is the title, duration etc.

Step 8: After completely filling the application form, click on submit button.

Note: All the fields are mandatory.

What is WOS-A?
Women Scientist Scheme-A is meant to encourage women candidates, preferably those having break in career and not having regular employment to pursue research in Science and Engineering.

What is the WOS-A DST's Scheme for Women Scientists?
All the schemes are entirely different in their mandate. Under WOS-A financial support is available for pure R&D work in Basic & Applied Sciences.

In which subject R&D support is available in WOS-A?
In Five streams i.e, Physical and mathematical science, chemical science, life science, earth & Atmosphere science, and engineering services.

What is the duration of fellowship/financial support under WOS-A Scheme?
The financial support is available for three years in WS-A scheme.

What is the minimum qualification for applying under WOS-A?
In the first category, candidate must be M.SC in basic or applied sciences or equivalent (i.e B.Tech/B.Pharm, etc) and second category includes Ph.D in basic and applied sciences or equivalent (i.e M.Tech/MBBS/MPharm, etc)

What is the age limit for WOS-A?
The minimum age fro applying under WOS-A is 27 years and maximum age for MSC or equivalent is 35 Years and for Ph.D and equivalent is 50 years.
