About The Program
West Bengal Merit Cum Means Scholarship 2022-23 is an opportunity offered by the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal to provide financial assistance to students belonging to minority communities and EWS category of West Bengal. The selected candidates will receive a sum of up to INR 33,000 per annum as admission fees and maintenance allowance.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be a domicile of West Bengal
- have secured admission in a technical/professional course
- have scored at least 50% marks in Higher Secondary or Graduation examination
- have an annual income of less than INR 2.5 lakh
Note: The students pursuing a professional or technical course in some listed institutions outside West Bengal are also eligible to apply. Such a list of institutions is notified by WBMDFC from time to time.
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive benefits in the following ways -
Day Scholars -
- Admission fees - INR 22,000
- Maintenance allowance - INR 5,500
Hostellers -
- Admission fees - INR 22,000
- Maintenance allowance - INR 1,100
Documents
- Marksheet of the last academic examination
- Family income certificate
- First page of bank passbook
- Institute verification form duly authenticated by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed format

Follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the scholarship -
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below and read all the details.
Step 2: Click on 'Apply Online', navigate to 'Student's Area' and click on 'New Registration'.
Step 3: Select the district where the applicant's institute is situated and click on 'Proceed'.
Step 4: Fill in the required details under the 'Student Information' and 'Scheme Eligibility' sections and Register.
Step 5: After successful registration, log in using the registered user ID and password.
Step 6: Fill in the application form, upload the relevant documents and submit.
Note - Submit the hard copy of the application form with the photocopies of the bank passbook to the concerned institute.

Terms and Conditions
- The scholarship amount will be credited to the student’s bank account through the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) mode.
- The students applying for this scholarship should fulfil the attendance criteria of the institute in which they are enrolled.
- If a student is found to have obtained a scholarship by a false statement, it will be cancelled immediately and the amount will be recovered.
