About The Program
Village Square Rural Media Fellowship 2022 is an opportunity offered by Village Square (an organization bridging the gap between urban and rural India) to young journalists, photographers, people working on online media (like YouTube) and freelancers from India. The fellowship aims to encourage young, emerging, and enthusiastic journalists to leverage storytelling as a tool for social change. The idea of providing the fellowship is to highlight rural issues and change processes in innovative ways using multimedia. The selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 35,000.
EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
To be eligible, an applicant must -
- be between the age of 22-30 years
- hold a bachelor’s degree in mass media/journalism
- have 2 or more years of relevant experience (preferred)
- have the ability to live and work in remote, rural areas
- demonstrate an interest and understanding of rural India and its issues and challenges
- be comfortable with multimedia and other innovative storytelling techniques
Benefits
The selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend of INR 35,000 along with training from leading sector experts.
Documents
- A minimum of 18 deliverables, which can be articles (800 words), photo essays or short video stories or a mix of all.
