About The Program

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test 2025-26 is an initiative of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti - an autonomous organisation under the Ministry of Education, Government of India - for students who wish to seek admission to Classes 6 and 9 in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) for the academic year 2024-25.

This scheme aims to provide high-quality modern education, encompassing a vital cultural component, to talented children predominantly from rural areas irrespective of their family's socio-economic conditions. The scheme also promotes national integration by facilitating student exchanges between Hindi-speaking and non-Hindi-speaking states.

Under this scheme, students will receive free education in JNVs, along with provisions for accommodation, meals, uniforms, and textbooks.

  • A candidate seeking admission under the rural quota must have studied in Classes 3, 4, and 5 for full academic sessions in government, government-aided, or government-recognised schools located in rural areas. However, the candidate must have studied for a full academic session in Class 5 in a rural area within the same district where admission is being sought.
  • Candidates studying under the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) schemes should produce a rural status certificate issued by the District Magistrate, Tehsildar, or Block Development Officer, indicating that the child has been residing and studying in rural areas for the last three years.

FOR URBAN CANDIDATES:- A candidate who has studied in a school located in an urban area even for a single day of session in Class 3, 4 and 5 will be considered as an urban candidate.

Note:- Urban areas are those which are so defined by any Government notifications on the last date of submission of application for JNVST registration. All other areas will be considered as rural.

FOR TRANSGENDER CANDIDATES:- JNVST does not provide separate reservations for transgender category candidates. They will be included in the boys' category for reservation purposes, under various subcategories such as Rural, Urban, OBC, SC, ST, and Divyang.

RESERVATION OF SEATS:-
