About The Program

University of Otago Global Scholarships 2025-26 is an opportunity offered by the University of Otago. This scheme is launched to support international students to help them study specific programmes at the university. Students will be selected from the nominated countries, and the number of scholarships will vary. Selected students will receive a scholarship of up to $15,000 (₹12,82,622) for one year.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an international student
  • have completed class 12
  • have enrolled or are willing to pursue a degree program at the University of Otago 
  • be enrolled in an on-campus degree or intend to enrol in one

Note:- 

  • Certificate courses or diploma courses chosen to enrol at the university won’t be considered for the scholarship.
  • Students sponsored by their home Government, or the New Zealand Government, are ineligible for this scholarship.
Benefits

The selected candidates will receive a scholarship of $15,000 (₹12,82,622) for a one-year tenure.

Note:- Students beginning study in Semester 2 (July) will receive their scholarship in two instalments - USD 7,500 credited towards tuition fees in Semester 2, and the remaining USD 7,500 credited in Semester 1 (February) of the following year.

How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Enrol for the course you want to register for at the university from Evision, the university's student portal. 
Step 4: Complete the scholarship application form. 
Step 5:  Select 'Apply now' under the 'My scholarships and awards' section. 
Step 6: Fill in the required details and upload the documents. 
Step 7: Click on the 'Submit' button.

The students will be selected based on academic potential, as demonstrated by programme admission.

Note: The University of Otago holds the power to change which countries are eligible for the Global Scholarship and which programs of study qualify for it, and they can do so whenever they deem it necessary.

  • The University of Otago Global Scholarship will only be officially granted to a student once they have completed the formal enrollment process. Receiving an 'Offer of Place' does not constitute a formal award.
  • Even if a student receives multiple 'Offer of Place' notifications for different programs of study, indicating acceptance and scholarship eligibility across those programs, only one scholarship will be awarded.
  • If a student fails to begin their studies by the enrollment date specified in their 'Offer of Place' notification, the scholarship will become invalid.
  • Should a student's enrollment date be moved to a later start date, their scholarship eligibility will be reassessed to ensure they still meet all requirements.
  • Students who are financially sponsored by their home government or the New Zealand government are not eligible to receive this scholarship.
  • Upon the termination of a student's enrollment for any reason, including withdrawal or stopping their studies, their entitlement to the scholarship funding will be immediately cancelled. The University may also require the student to repay any scholarship funds that have already been disbursed.
