About The Program

The University of Birmingham, UK invites applications for University of Birmingham Law School Scholarships 2019 from undergraduate and graduate students. Students starting the first year of an undergraduate programme at the University of Birmingham, UK are eligible to apply for the scholarship. The selected scholars have the opportunity to win a scholarship worth GBP 3000 per annum.

The following applicants are eligible for the scholarship: 

  • The applicant should not already be registered in a programme at the University of Birmingham, UK.
  • The applicants must be self-funding and shall have sufficient funds to completely cover the full cost of living at the University and handle any additional visa/travel expenses associated with studying in the UK.
  • The applicant must be in receipt of an offer from the University of Birmingham full-time undergraduate law programme starting in September 2019.
  • The applicants must be applying in one of the following LLB programmes: 
    • LLB 
    • LLB for Graduates
    • LLB International Law and Globalisation 
    • LLB with Business
    • LLB with Criminology
    • LLB with French Law
    • LLB with German Law

Note: The student must be entering the first year of an undergraduate programme based at Birmingham’s UK campus.

The selected scholars will receive a scholarship worth GBP 3000 per annum during the term of the scholarship at the University of Birmingham, UK.

Step 1: Complete an application to study for any of the undergraduate law courses at the University of Birmingham, UK. 
Step 2: Wait for an offer from the University. 
Step 3: Apply for Law Scholarships. 
Step 4: Fill in the application form with the required details.
Step 5: Attach the necessary documents.
Step 6: Submit the application.

Selection Criteria

The applicants will be shortlisted for the scholarship based on the following criteria:

  • The strength of the supporting statement
  • Academic achievements and previous study of the applicant 
  • Any other relevant professional qualifications and achievements
Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarships are not paid directly to the students. Instead, it will be disbursed in the form of fee reduction at the beginning of the programme.
  • To continue to retain the scholarship, students must score a minimum of a 2:1 (at least 60%) in each year of study at the University. If a student fails to achieve the minimum required grade, the scholarship will be withdrawn for the remainder of the term of the programme.
  • The students studying Law with French Law or Law with German Law programmes will receive the scholarship payments in the first, second and the fourth years assuming all conditions are met.
  • All privately funded international students are eligible to apply for the scholarship which will be categorised as overseas for fees purposes.
  • The scholarships are available for students beginning their programme in the month of September 2019 only.
  • The students in receipt of financial support from other funding bodies which completely cover their tuition are not eligible to apply for the scholarship.

Q. Can the students take a gap year?
A. The University feels that a gap year if used constructively, can be a positive benefit to a student. The students should indicate on his/her UCAS form that he/she intends to take a gap year and explain what he/she plans to do during the specific gap year.

 

Q. If an applicant has already started a law degree elsewhere, can it be transferred to the University of Birmingham?
A. No, the University does not accept transfers into the School from any programme including other Law programmes.

 

Q. How many students does the University accept?
A. Across the range of undergraduate programmes of the University of Bristol, Uk, approximately 450 students are admitted each year, which also makes the Birmingham Law School one of the largest law schools in the country.
