Umbrella Scheme Pre-Matric Scholarship For ST Students (Class 9 & 10), Meghalaya 2024 is an opportunity provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students who are enrolled in Classes 9 or 10. The scholarship aims to support these students' education and reduce dropout rates as they transition from elementary to secondary school. Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of up to ₹5,250 per annum and other grants.

Note:- If a student is awarded two scholarships simultaneously, they may choose one and must formally communicate their preference to the awarding authorities through their institution's head.
Selected scholars will receive a consolidated allowance as follows:-

Note:- In addition to the scholarship, Divyangjan students will receive an additional monthly grant of ₹800 (₹9,600 annually) if they reside in a hostel, or ₹600 (₹7,200 annually) if they are day scholars. Disability, as defined by the Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or Union Territory Administration. These disability allowance provisions also extend to leprosy-cured students and those with sickle cell anemia or thalassemia, upon providing the necessary certificate.

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.
Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

Question 1: What is the objective of this scholarship?
Answer: The objective of this scholarship is to encourage pre-matric students to continue their education and reduce the instances of dropouts by providing financial assistance on their academic journey.
Question 2: Will every chosen candidate receive an annual grant of ₹5,250?
Answer: ST hosteler students who get chosen as candidates under this scholarship are eligible to receive an amount of ₹5,250 annualy (divided into 10 months).
Question 3: Will disabled students get any extra allowance under this scholarship?
Answer: Disabled students are eligible for extra monthly allowances under this scholarship. Disabled hosteler students will receive a grant of ₹800 and disabled day scholars will receive ₹600 monthly on top of the academic allowance.
Question 4: Can students submit an affidavit or self-declaration instead of the family income certificate?
Answer: No, a family income certificate is mandatory and affidavit/self-declaration will not be accepted.
Question 5: Is it mandatory for the income certificate to display the earnings of both the parents of the students?
Answer: If both of the student's parents are employed, their earnings must be included in the income certificate.
