About The Program


UGC Dr. Radhakrishnan Post-Doctoral Fellowship 2022 is an initiative of the University Grants Commission for Ph.D. degree holders to carry out the advanced studies and research in Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences domain. The main objective of this fellowship is to provide an opportunity to acquire new skills in cross- disciplinary areas. The selected candidates will receive up to INR 50,000 per month, a contingency grant and medical assistance.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must - 

  • be below 35 years of age (For General Category) and 40 years of age (For Reserved Category) as on the last date of submission of online application
  • be Ph.D. degree holders in the relevant subject/discipline of Sciences, Engineering and Technology, Humanities and Social Sciences
  • not have availed any kind of Post-Doctoral Fellowship from UGC
  • have secured a minimum of 55% of marks at UG level and a minimum of 60% of marks at PG level (For General Category) and a minimum of 50% of marks at UG level and a minimum 55% of marks at PG level (For Reserved Category)

Note - Transgender candidates are eligible to apply under the scheme.

Benefits

The selected fellows will receive the benefits in the following way -

Fellowship

  

  • INR 31,000 per month 

Contingency Grant

  • INR 50, 000 per annum

Escort Reader Assistance

INR 30,00 per month (fixed) in cases of PWD (Person with disability)

 

Note -  The items purchased from the contingency grant are assets of the university. At the end of the fellowship, the assets are to be handed over to the host university.

HRA - 

  • Hostel accommodation will be provided to the scholars by their institutions. In such cases, the scholar is eligible to draw only hostel fees excluding mess, electricity, water charges, etc.

  • If the scholars make their own accommodation arrangements, they will be entitled to draw HRA per the ceiling and categorization of cities by the Govt. of India.

  • The scholars must submit a certificate in the prescribed format to the institution to draw HRA.

 

Medical Assistance - No separate/fixed medical assistance is provided. However, the scholars may avail the medical facilities available in their Institutions concerned.

  • Marksheets of both Graduation & Post Graduation Degrees
  • Certificate of PhD Award
  • Physical Disability Certificate (if applicable)
  • Recommendation Letter of Mentor or Superior

The eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship following the below-mentioned steps -

Step 3: Fill in all the required details to 'Register'. (Note- If the applicant is already registered, kindly log in using valid credentials.)
Step 4: Fill in all the details to complete the application form.
Step 5: Submit the application form.

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfillment of eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
  • The candidates will be selected on the basis of merit list.
  • The candidates shall join the fellowship within 3 months from the date of issue of Award letter. 
  • Those candidates who have already availed any kind of Post-Doctoral Fellowship from UGC need not apply under the scheme. 
  • The research fellow shall submit a yearly report on the progress of the research work.
  • The candidates are eligible to take 30 leaves in a year.
  • The candidates who have already applied for a Post-doctoral Fellowship and have been declared unsuccessful, are permitted to apply again with a new research proposal.
  • Incomplete applications will be rejected.
  • The selected candidates can download their award letter through the UGC website.
  • In case the progress of the work is found unsatisfactory, the fellowship may be terminated by the UGC.
  • No extension is permissible beyond the total period of three years.
  • UGC reserves the right to terminate the fellowship of any awardee in the following cases - 
    • If the scholar is found to be ineligible to receive the fellowship, at any point time during the entire duration of the fellowship.
    • Misconduct/misbehaviour/corrupt practices.
    • Unsatisfactory progress of research work.
    • Violation of terms and conditions of these guidelines.
    • Plagiarism or unethical practices, in any form.
    • If the candidate is found employed during the fellowship.
