About The Program

UCC Ireland Meritorious Scholarship 2018 is a merit-based scholarship for Indian students, who are planning to take admission in undergraduates and post-graduate courses in UCC Ireland for September 2018 batch.

The college is offering the scholarship as a discount to their college tuition fees. Undergraduate Scholarship is applicable for 4 years (or the duration of course), subject to the student successful completion of each year as per the required standard for progression.

For Undergraduate Courses:
• Applicant should have a merit of 85% in Maths in class 12th (In case, pursuing class 12th, Pre-board marks would be considered)
• Should have IELTS score in the range of 6 to 7 based on the courses mentioned in Annexure-2   
For Postgraduate Courses:
• Applicant should have scored more than 65% in Degree (In case pursuing Degree, previous Semester's Marksheet would be considered)
• Should have 6.5 to 7 IELTS score based on the courses mentioned in Annexure-2 
For special QUERCES/PRESIDENTIAL (UG/PG Students)
• Undergraduate applicant should have a merit of 90% in class 10th and 12th
• Postgraduate applicant should have more than 85% in class 10th, 12th and Degree
• Should have 6.5 IELTS score with 6 band in each module or should have TOEFL score of 95
Note: IELTS score is not compulsory for few programmes at the time of application.
Benefits

Depending on the course for which the student is applying the scholarship may vary as mentioned below -

College of Science, Engineering and Food Science (SEFS):

  • UG level: SEFS 25% scholarship of the annual fee
  • UG level: Presidential 50% scholarship of the annual fee 
  • PG level: Up to 50% off on tuition fee

 College of Business and Law (CBL)

  • PG level: EUR 3,000 Scholarship (for courses with fee >17k)

College of Arts, Celtic Studies, and Social Sciences (CACSSS)

  • PG level: Excellence MSc x 12 (covers EU fee)
  • PG level: Excellence PhD x 11 (covers EU fee)
  • PG level: Boole International 50%

Additional benefits

  • Students can also participate for Quercus scholarship which offers 50% tuition fee reduction as scholarships. Details available in Annexure 1.
  • Students will also get an opportunity to work in Ireland post studies for 2 years. 
  • Every year, ~97% of students get successful campus placement or project.

Documents to be attached:

  • Photo ID proof: Passport, Aadhaar card, PAN card, Driving License etc.
  • Date of Birth: Birth Certificate
  • For UG courses: Class 10, 11, 12 Marksheet (12th Pre-board mark sheet can be considered)
  • For PG courses: Degree (Detail mark card/semester marks sheet) of previous academics
  • Family income proof: Income Certificate, Income tax return, Salary Slip, etc.
  • Statement of purpose (in not more than 300 words)
  • Letter of References 
  • IELTS/TOEFL (IELTS score is not compulsory for few programmes at the time of application.)
How can you apply?

For students, there will be 2 steps:

Step 1: Scholarship application and selection: Students need to apply for the scholarship online and based on their merit, they will be shortlisted for short telephonic interview round. Click here to apply for Step 1 and fill the 5 step online application form.

Step 2: Admission application and selection: Finalist students (post interview) need to apply for UCC admission application form to receive conditional admission offer letter.

FAQ's

Q. What is conditional offer letter?

A. A conditional offer letter is issued to undergraduate students who are interested to join college subject to a condition that they score more than 85% marks in their class 12. If a student scores more than 85%, they can apply for VISA process basis the conditional offer letter. Similarly, a conditional offer letter is issued to a postgraduate student who is interested to join college subject to a condition that they score more than 65% in 10th, 12th and Degree courses.

Q. Why we need to appear for Scholarship application first?

A. It is difficult to manage a huge number of applications as there are few merit-based scholarship seats. To keep the selection process simple and efficient, the Buddy4Study team is handling the first level of shortlisting for scholarship seats. Students will be updated with the result of each stage over SMS, emails.

Q. My class 12 board results/ Degree results will be out by June 2018; however, the application deadline is 30th April. How can I apply?

A. We are aware that most of Indian board/ degree results will be out by June 1st week. As the session starts in September month, we need to finalize students and send them an offer letter by May. It takes approximately 2-month time to get VISA.  To simplify this issue, we only need students class 12 Pre-board, DMC (as applicable). UCC offers conditional offer letter which will be valid only when student receive more than 85% marks in maths in class 12 board (for undergraduate) or more than 65% in 10th, 12th and Degree courses (for postgraduate courses).

Q. What is the scholarship amount and number of seats?

A. UCC offers merit-based scholarship seats, where students will receive 25% discount on their total tuition fee. Total college program fee is approximately 22,000 euros per year. The scholarship is given in all 4 years. In 2018, we are having more than 20 scholarship seats. For Quercus/Presidential scholarship, the scholarship amount is 50%.

Q. What kind of questions will be asked in interview round?

A. Interview round will be telephonic only to understand a student’s profile, aspirations and communication skills.
