About The Program

TWAS-Lenovo Science Prize 2017 is offering a USD 10000 scholarship for Scientists who have gained Scientific Achievements in their Developing Countries. Candidates from Geological Sciences are preferred. Candidates must have lived and worked in a developing country for the last 10 years. Women Scientist nominations are encouraged.

  • Candidates must be nationals of a developing country and must have lived and worked in a developing country for the last 10 years
  • The prize will only be awarded to individuals for scientific research of outstanding international merit carried out at institutions in developing countries
  • Nominations of women scientists are particularly encouraged. Self-nominations and nominations from jury members will not be accepted
  • Individuals who have received the Nobel Prize, the Tokyo/Kyoto Prize, the Crafoord Prize or the Abel Prize are not eligible for the TWASLenovo Science Prize. ​
How can you apply?

The application can be done by email or by post with the following steps:
Step 1:
Download the application form.
Step 2: Fill all the details.
Step 3: Attach all the required documents.
Step 4: Save this file under the applicant's name in the format "SURNAME_Initial.doc" for example, if the name of the candidate is Andrea DOE, name the file:  "DOE_A.doc" before submitting. Now email it.
Step 5: Take print out the form, date and sign it and send it to the given address:

Terms and Conditions

Required Documents:

  • Suggested citation (no more than 20 words) in the event that the applicant is selected for the prize.
  • Supporting statement of about 200 words summarizing the scientific achievements of the applicant.
  • 5-6 page narrative write-up of the applicant highlighting his/her major scientific accomplishments.
  • A brief professional curriculum vitae.
  • A complete list of publications.
  • A list of no more than 20 of his/her most significant publications.
  • Information on previous awards, honours, recognition received by the applicant.

Nominations:
Nominations are invited from TWAS members, selected individuals, as well as from science academies, national research councils, universities and scientific institutions. Nominations of women scientists are particularly encouraged. Self-nominations and nominations from jury members will not be accepted.

Evaluation:
The evaluation and selection will be carried out by an authoritative international jury chaired by the TWAS president and including a representative from Lenovo.
