About The Program

The United Nations–Nippon Foundation Fellowship 2026 is offered by the UN-Nippon Foundation. The fellowship provides mid-level professionals from developing states the opportunity to deepen expertise in ocean affairs, maritime governance, and the law of the sea through 9 months of advanced academic and professional training. Selected candidates will receive a monthly stipend and other benefits.

 

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be between 25 and 45 years of age
  • have completed a first-level university degree or equivalent
  • demonstrate ability for advanced academic research and studies
  • be from a developing state
  • be a mid-level government official or professional directly engaged in ocean affairs and/or the law of the sea

Note:- Applicants must be free of non-fellowship obligations during the fellowship period unless otherwise authorised by DOALOS.

Eligible applicants can apply by following these steps:-
Step 1:

Step 3: Scroll down and click the ‘Online Application Form’.
Step 4: Fill in the required details and download the ‘2026 UNNF Fellowship on OALOS Application Form’ and the ‘Nomination and Recommendation Form’.
Step 5: Fill in the required information in the downloaded forms, sign, and stamp it.
Step 6: Email the downloaded forms with a copy of the passport biodata page directly to DOALOS at ‘doalos@un.org’.

  • Professional relevance to ocean affairs/law of the sea.
  • Academic qualifications.
