About The Program

The Ratan K. Singh Essay Writing Competition on International Arbitration is an essay writing competition for interested graduates, postgraduates and doctoral students and research scholars. Organised jointly by the Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law, Punjab and the Pepperdine University, USA, the competition invites essays on the theme 'Challenges Facing International Arbitration and Their Possible Solutions'.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

Students and Research Scholars pursuing Under Graduate, Post Graduate and Doctoral Degree from any recognized university can participate in the competition.

Benefits
  • The following cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of the competition: 
    • First Prize - INR 25,000
    • Second Prize- INR 15,000
    • Third Prize- INR 10,000
  • The name of the winners will be displayed on the RGNUL website and separate intimation will also be sent to them along with a Letter of Appreciation.
  • In addition, 9 other selected essays will be published in the form of a book.
How can you apply?

Follow the below steps-

Step 1: Write an essay on the sub-themes of the topic provided in the PDF. Click Here for the sub-themes of the essay. 
Step 2: Attach a Cover sheet as a separate document in the same email.
Step 3: Submit the essay via Email to adrc@rgnul.ac.in with the subject "Submission for the Ratan K. Singh Writing Competition on International Arbitration".

Note: Provide the following information on the cover sheet-

  • Sub-Theme Chosen
  • Title of the Essay
  • Name of the Author
  • College/ Institute/ University of Author
  • Programme Enrolled & Year of Study of Author
  • Total word count (including appendices, footnotes, references, tables, etc.)
  • E-mail address & Contact No. of Author along with the Full Postal Address

Terms and conditions-

  • The essays must be submitted in English Language only and must be in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx). Essays in any other format or language will not be accepted. 
  • Any kind of Plagiarism will lead to disqualification, the essay should be an original work of the author.
  • Co-authorship is not permitted. 
  • Every citation must follow The Harvard Bluebook, 20th Edition.
  • There is no registration fee
