About The Program

The McGraw Fellowship for Business Journalism 2019 invites applications from experienced journalists. The main objective of this fellowship is to provide adequate resources to the fellows to do deep reporting of critical issues related to the global economy, finance and business.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed
  • The applicant must have the professional experience of at least 5 years in journalism.
  • Reporters and editors currently working in news organisations or a non-profit journalism house are eligible to apply.
  • Freelance journalists are also eligible to apply.

 

Benefits

The selected fellows will receive a grant of up to USD 15,000 for each project depending on the time taken and expenses needed to complete the project.

 

Documents
  • An updated resume in PDF format
  • A proposed story idea in PDF format where the applicant must outline his/her reporting plan and timeline to complete the project (the proposal should be named as LastName_Brief description of the proposed story, i.e., Smith_Cuban_Economy or Jones_Genetic_Testing)
  • Three professional work samples in the form of published clips, audio/video files or digital material (applicant should provide URLs of the samples or PDF files/other readily accessible digital file formats in case URLs are not available)
  • Two letters of professional references

  • Last date to apply for Summer Fellowship: 28 June 2019
Terms and Conditions
  • The applicant must submit a file not more than 10 MB in size. Total uploads for a single application form must not be more than 20 MB.
  • The pitch to be submitted by the applicant must not be more than three pages.
  • The pitch should contain enough preliminary reporting and documentation to show that the proposal is solid.
