The Institute of Mathematical Sciences Doctoral Programme 2022 is an initiative for Ph.D degree holders. The institution provides an exceptional intellectual environment for fundamental research in the areas of Theoretical Physics, Mathematics, Theoretical Computer Science and Computational Biology. The selected fellows will receive a consolidated fellowship of INR 25,000 to INR 28,000 per month plus hostel accommodation (or a house rent allowance), medical benefits and annual book/contingency grants and support for research-related travel.

Step 2: The candidates are pre-screened through their performance in a national level qualifying examination. There is a range of national written tests that are accepted toward an application towards the IMSc Graduate program: JEST, NBHM, GATE, NET, BINC and JGEEBILS (Computational Biology); NBHM (Mathematics); JEST (Theoretical Computer Science); JEST, CSIR-UGC, GATE (Theoretical Physics).
Note - The application deadlines usually fall in mid-February. If a candidate wishes to apply, please do ensure that the marks in one or more of these screening tests are valid and made available to the institutions. The candidates selected through these exams are invited to IMSc for interviews in May-July.
