About The Program

Himalayan Fellowship for Creative Practitioners 2025 is an opportunity offered by the Foundation for Indian Contemporary Art (FICA) in collaboration with the Royal Enfield company. The fellowship invites applications from creative practitioners working across diverse artistic mediums located in the Western and Eastern Himalayan regions, including the eight Northeastern states. Selected candidates will receive a grant of up to ₹3,00,000 (one-time).

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be a creative practitioner working across mediums such as painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, photography, video, filmmaking, architecture, sound and music, design, crafts, installations, performance, literature and oral history
  • be a domicile of one of the following Indian Himalayan Region, spread across 13 Indian States/Union Territories
    • Jammu and Kashmir
    • Ladakh
    • Uttarakhand
    • Himachal Pradesh
    • Arunachal Pradesh
    • Manipur
    • Meghalaya
    • Mizoram
    • Nagaland
    • Sikkim
    • Tripura
    • Assam
    • West Bengal

  • An updated portfolio of individual or collective practice with not more than 20 ongoing and older projects. (Note:- Please include images and links to video files or other supporting material within this PDF itself)
  • A detailed project proposal with the following -
    • Outline of the proposed area of work/research and how it relates to the aegis of the grant.
    • Details on community involvement, stakeholders and collaborators (if any)
    • Images and videos wherever applicable (Note:- Videos to be included within the PDF as links)
  • Updated Curriculum Vitae (CV) and bio. (Note:- If applying as a collective, send CVs and bios for all members of the collective)

Selection Criteria

Preference will be given to projects whose creative outcomes take various forms, from video works and photobooks to experimental online archives, from public art installations, site-specific and travelling exhibitions to performative interventions, and from forays into alternative pedagogies and interactive design projects, etc.

The fellowship will entail hybrid forms of engagement through workshops and site visits. Selected applicants will be expected to be present for the same, and good internet access will be a requirement.

  • The fellowship will assist Fellows in developing their proposed projects through research, production, dissemination, and other necessary mobilization efforts.
  • The fellowship includes financial support and a robust mentorship program, linking them to broader regional networks. Participants will interact with mentors and resource persons as needed, in addition to the provided budget.
