About The Program
The British Academy International Fellowship 2026 is offered by the British Academy. The fellowship is a prestigious award designed to support outstanding early-career researchers pursuing independent research careers in the humanities and social sciences. Selected candidates will receive a two-year fully-funded fellowship at 80% FEC, including salary, research expenses up to £12,000, and relocation costs up to £8,000 at a UK host institution.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-
- hold a PhD from a non-UK university (or be in the final stages with viva completed before 1st June 2026)
- have no more than five years of active full-time postdoctoral experience at the time of application
- be working outside the UK at the time of application
- not hold UK citizenship
- be competent in oral and written English
- have a clearly defined and mutually-beneficial research proposal agreed with a UK host researcher
Benefits
The selected fellows will receive a two-year fellowship support at 80% full economic costing (FEC) along with research expenses of up to £12,000 ( approx.₹14,99,829.60) (subject to justification) and relocation costs of up to £8,000( approx. ₹9,99,886.40) (exceptional circumstances may allow higher amounts with full justification).
