About The Program

Tagore National Fellowship for Cultural Research (TNFCR) 2024-25 is an initiative of Ministry of Culture, Government of India to Indian and foreign research scholars. This scheme aims to promote Indian Art and Culture to the worldwide. The selected students will receive a fellowship up to ₹80,000 per month.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian and foreign national
  • have sound academic or professional credentials
  • have 5 years of experience in guiding/conducting research or
    the same experience in art fields
  • have published original research papers in reputed and refereed journals/books

Note:- The applicants must have a list of publications, or 2 (at least) monographs (single-authored).

Benefits

Scholars will receive the fellowship in the following manner:-

Tagore National
Fellows		 15 80,000 for two years
Tagore Research Scholars 25 50,000 for two years

Contingency grant:- 
All scholars who take up the fellowship under the scheme will be reimbursed on an ‘actuals’ basis, contingent expenses for making academic trips, engaging research assistants, etc. up to a ceiling of ₹2,50,000 per annum, during the tenure of the fellowship.

How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note: If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID).
Step 3: Click on the 'Application Form' link. 
Step 4: Fill in the required details and attach a photograph or required documents.
Step 5: Post the application form to any Nodal Institution under the Ministry of Culture.

  •  Applications received after the last date of submission will be rejected.

Selection Criteria

The selection will be based on the relevance of the study, the benefits of the nodal institution from that particular study and also the credentials and reputation of the scholar.

Terms and Conditions
  • The eminent scholars who have expertise in the fields according to the subjects of the scheme would be invited by the Ministry of Culture to join the National Selection Committee (NSC).
  • The selection of candidates need not be confined to those who respond to the advertisement only.
  • It is for the institution to consider suo moto the names of eminent scholars, who in the opinion of the institution and members of its Institution Level Search-cum-Screening Committee (ILSSC) have expertise in subjects relevant to it, and invite them to submit their proposal for consideration by the NSC.
  • An ILSSC will be constituted by each institution. The director or the Head of the institution will be the Convener of the ILSSC and it will have at least three academics or cultural experts and not more than two officials. 
  • The total number of fellowships/scholarships administered by the institutions may be decided by the Ministry of culture from time to time, in consultation with the participating institutions.  
  • Applications received after the prescribed date and time will be rejected.
