Swami Vivekananda Single Girl Child Scholarship for Research in Social Sciences 2018-19 invites applications from girl applicants who are the single child of their parents and are pursuing Ph.D. in Social Sciences. The scholarship aims to support higher education of single girl child in Social Sciences.

    Eligibility
    • The applicant must be the single girl child of her parents. In case the family consists of one son and one daughter, the girl child will not be eligible.
    • The applicant must be admitted into a regular, full-time Ph.D. program in Social Sciences of a recognised university/college/institute.
    • The applicant who is pursuing Ph.D. program from distance education mode is not eligible.
    • The applicant must not be more than 40 years of age in case of general category or 45 years of age in case of reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC/PWD) as on 6 January 2019.
    • Transgender candidates are also eligible to apply.
    Benefits
    • The selected candidates will receive a fellowship amount of INR 25,000 per month for the initial two years. For the remaining period, the candidates will get an amount of INR 28,000 per month.
    • The candidates will also receive a contingency amount of INR 10,000 per annum for the initial two years. For the remaining period, they will get a yearly amount of INR 20,500.
    • The candidates selected under the PWD category will also receive an additional amount of INR 2000 per month as escorts/reader assistance allowance.
    Documents
    • Caste certificate issued by a competent authority like Tehsildar/SDM, if the candidate belongs to the reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC)
    • Class 10 certificate or school leaving certificate as the proof of age certificate
    • Proof of admission in Ph.D. program in a recognised institution which is covered under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act
    • Certificate from the university/institution where the applicant is pursuing Ph.D. course
    • An affidavit on INR 50 stamp paper from the applicant/parent stating that she is the single child of her parents, duly attested by SDM/First Class Magistrate/Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar)
    • Marksheets of graduation and post graduation
    • Undertaking/NOC Form in the prescribed format
    • Person with Disability(PWD) Certificate in case of the applicant belonging to PWD category

    Eligible candidates can apply online by following the steps mentioned below:

    Step 2: Read the instruction carefully, tick the checkbox given at the end of the page and then click on 'Proceed for Registration'.
    Step 3: Fill in all the details in the form.
    Step 4: Upload the required documents.
    Step 5: Now, submit the application form.

    Note: On completing the 'Personal Information' page, a registration ID will be generated which can be used for generating a PDF file once the submission process of application is completed.
