About The Program

Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme for Minorities, West Bengal 2022-23 is an initiative of the West Bengal Minorities Development & Finance Corporation, under the Minority Affairs and Madrasah Education Department, Government of West Bengal to financially help the minority students of Class 11 to the postgraduate level. The selected candidates will receive up to INR 8,000 per month.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must -

  • be a domicile of West Bengal
  • be studying in Class 11 to postgraduate level at an institution located in West Bengal
  • belong to the minority community (Buddhist, Christian, Jain Muslim, Parsee & Sikh) of West Bengal

 

For undergraduate level scholarship:

  • have secured 60% marks in aggregate in last qualifying examination from West Bengal Board of Secondary Education/West Bengal Council for Higher Secondary Education/Madrasa Education for Higher Secondary level OR 
  • have secured 60% marks in aggregate in diploma course from Institutes approved by AICTE and affiliated to WBSCT&VE&SD (in 2nd year Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy courses through lateral entry) or affiliated by State Medical Faculty (in 2nd year Pharmacy course through lateral entry) OR 

 

For postgraduate level scholarship:

  • have secured 53% marks in aggregate in graduation (honours subject) from any state university (General Education) OR
  • have 55% marks in graduate courses from any state university or AICTE-approved Institute of West Bengal (Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy) 
  • have an annual income of not more than INR 2,50,000

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits -

PG (Arts) At least 53% marks in last qualifying exam 2,000
PG (Commerce) At least 53% marks for SVMCM in last qualifying exam 2,000
PG (Science) At least 53% marks for SVMCM in last qualifying exam 2,500
PG (Other Professional courses, UGC approved) At least 53% marks in the last qualifying exam 2,500
Non-NET M.Phil./Non NET Ph.D. Date of Enrolment/Date of Registration not before 1st April 2017 5,000 to 8,000 Respectively
HS At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,000
D.El.Ed At least 60% marks in the last qualifying exam 1,000
UG (ENGG.), PG (ENGG.) and Other Professional courses (AICTE approved)

UG: 1. 60% 2. 60% in Diploma Course from WBSCT&VE&SD for lateral entry scheme.

PG: 55% in Graduation from any state university/AICTE-approved institute in West Bengal

  • Marksheet of the last academic examination
  • Family income certificate 
  • First page of the bank passbook
  • Institute verification form duly authenticated by the Head of the Institution (HOI) in the prescribed format

Follow the steps mentioned below to apply for the scholarship:

Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below and read all the details.
Step 2: Click on 'Apply Online' and then click on 'New Registration'
Step 3: Select the district where the applicant's institute is situated and click on 'Proceed'.
Step 4: Fill in the required details under the 'Student Information' and 'Scheme Eligibility' sections and Register.
Step 5: After successful registration, log in using the registered user ID and password.
Step 6: Fill in the application form, upload the relevant documents and submit.

 

Note - Submit the hard copy of the application form with the photocopies of the bank passbook to the concerned institute.

Selection Criteria

The selection of the candidates will be based on their academic merit and financial need. 

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship will be awarded only upon the successful verification of information and relevant documents.
  • Students continuing their studies in institutes outside West Bengal are not eligible for this scholarship.
  • For students pursuing UG courses, a separate merit list will be prepared for Arts, Commerce, and Science stream. 
  • The scholarship amount will be directly transferred to the students' accounts.
