About The Program

The Sun Pharma Science Foundation Post-Doctoral Research Fellowship Program 2026 is offered by the Sun Pharma Science Foundation (SPSF). The fellowship is a prestigious financial award designed to support outstanding early-career researchers pursuing post-doctoral research in biological, biomedical, and allied disciplines. Selected candidates will receive a monthly fellowship of ₹75,000, along with an annual contingency grant, for 3 years.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian National intending to work in India
  • hold a PhD in Biological/Biomedical and allied subjects (those who have submitted their PhD thesis are also eligible, provided they acquire their degree in time to activate the fellowship)
  • be less than 30 years of age at the time of application
  • identify a mentor from a sponsoring institution/university different from where the candidate completed their PhD

Note:- Sponsorship from the same institution/university where the candidate has completed their PhD will not be eligible.

Benefits

The selected candidates will receive the following benefits for 3 years of post-doctoral research:

  • Monthly Fellowship: 75,000 per month (increased annually)
  • Contingency Grant – Year 1: ₹7,50,000 per annum
  • Contingency Grant – Year 2 & 3: ₹5,00,000 per annum
  • Travel and accommodation are covered for the interview stage

Candidates will be selected based on:

  • Quality of the candidate, including publications
  • Quality of the research proposal
  • Quality of the mentor and his/her host organisation

Note: Selection is carried out in 3 phases: Pre-Proposal screening, Full Proposal evaluation, and Personal Interview with the Jury.

  • The fellowship is granted for a duration of 3 years with a mandatory annual review of progress.
  • The fellowship is liable to be discontinued on unsatisfactory performance.
  • Request to change host institution/university will not be entertained during the fellowship period.
  • Selected candidates must join the sponsored institution within 12 weeks of the offer; failing this, the fellowship will be offered to wait-listed candidates.
