About The Program

Stanford Biodesign Innovation Fellowship 2019-20 invites application from the students of medicine, biosciences, engineering, computer science, product design and business who have the ambition to become leaders in health technology innovation with an objective to learn a proven, project-based approach to identify important unmet medical needs, develop innovative diagnostics, devices, or other health technologies and prepare to bring products into patient care through start-up, corporate or other implementation channels. The selected fellows will get a stipend of USD 5000 per month and USD 1000 as computer stipend.

  • Students of medicine, biosciences, engineering, computer science, product design, business are eligible to apply.
  • Applicants from any country.
  • Masters, doctorate or medical degree students are preferred but not essential.
Benefits

A total of 12 applicants will be selected who will receive a monthly stipend of USD 5000 and an amount of USD 1000 as computer stipend. This amount is sufficient to cover all the basic needs during the fellowship period.

  • A copy of the most recent diploma degree
  • Copy of the transcript from the two most recent degree programs
  • Copy of certificates of qualifying examinations in the past 5 years
  • A 2-page written application essay
  • A 1-2 min video application essay
  • Three letters of recommendation.

Selection Criteria

The selection of applicants will be done on the basis of their experience, passion, and drive, as well as their potential to become leading innovators in the field of health technology. Master's, Doctorate or Medical degree holders will be given preference.

  • There are only 12 fellowships to be offered. The final decision will be made based on personal interviews of shortlisted 24-30 applicants
  • If selected for the fellowship, the ability to participate will rely on the successful acceptance of the visa application
  • The letters of recommendation submitted before the application deadline
  • Recommendation letters sent through email or post will not be considered
  • The application fee of USD 95 is non-refundable
