About The Program

Sports Talent Search Scholarship (STSS), Assam 2023-24 is an opportunity offered by the Directorate of Sports and Youth Welfare, Government of Assam to eligible players of Assam. The selected candidates will receive up to INR 20,000.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • be a citizen of India and a bonafide resident of Assam
  • be below 19 years of age* as on 31st March 2023 (for school students)
  • be below 25 years of age* as on 31st March 2023 (for non-student, college and university students)
  • have achieved a medal in one of the sports disciplines recognized by the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) at the State level or National level championships during the financial year from 1st April 2022 to 31st March 2023
  • not be receiving any other sports scholarship from the State/Central Government or any other institute or agency

 

*Note: A relaxation of 5 years is permitted in the case of Para Olympic and Special Olympic players.

Eligible candidates can apply for the opportunity by following the below-mentioned steps:

Step 4: Applicants can collect their application forms from their respective District Sports Office and submit it to the same office on or before 30th September 2023.

Selection Criteria

The selection of candidates will be made by a committee constituted by the Directorate of Sports & Youth Welfare, Government of Assam, on the basis of performance at the national and state level. The committee will consider the following factors:

  • Applicant's performance in the state-level and national-level sports competitions
  • Applicant's potential for excellence in sports
  • Applicant's academic performance

  • The scholarship will be awarded for a period of one year and can be renewed for a further period of one year, subject to the applicant satisfying the selection criteria.
  • Applications of full-time employees will not be considered for the award if they are working in the Government Department/Undertaking/PSUs.
