Southern Cross University invites applications for Southern Cross University PhD Scholarship in Soil Organic Matter Storage in Deep Soils 2020 from PhD applicants. The scholarship aims to provide an opportunity to complete a PhD and conduct research in organic matter of the soil. Selected scholars will get a scholarship of up to AUD 28,092 per year for 3 years duration.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible, an applicant must:

    • Have an Honours or Master's degree, undertaken in English, in a related field such as biogeochemistry, soil science, environmental chemistry, or closely related.

     Note: Experience with isotope and/or soil techniques is preferred.

    Benefits

    The selected scholars will receive a tax-free stipend of AUD 28,092 per annum (2020 rate) indexed annually for up to 3 years (with a possible 6-month extension subject to approval), including a tuition fee waiver for international students.

Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on the documents submitted by the applicants and Skype/Zoom interview.

Terms and Conditions
  • The successful candidates will need to fund their own travel to Australia to commence studies and they will be responsible for obtaining and paying for any visas and associated requirements (e.g. overseas student health cover).
  • Applications without relevant information or with statements longer than one page will not be considered.
  • The project will involve extended periods of on-farm field sampling as well as intensive laboratory work.
  • International candidates are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
