About The Program

SOAS University of London, Kamran Djam Scholarship 2022 is an initiative by SOAS University of London for UK/EU and overseas fee-paying full-time students. The aim of this scholarship is to support meritorious students. The selected students will receive a contribution towards fees.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must - 

  • Expect to be awarded a first-class honours degree (For B.A. scholarship)
  • Possess or expect to be awarded a first-class honours degree or equivalent (For M.A. scholarship)
  • Possess or expect to be awarded a master’s degree with a mark of distinction from a UK university (For M.Phil./Ph.D. scholarship)
  • Have demonstrated in the research proposal of the application for admission that the research is in one of the following subject areas - 
    • Persian Language,
    • Persian Literature,
    • Iranian History (For M.Phil./Ph.D. scholarship)
  • Have an offer of admission to a research programme or to the M.A. Iranian Studies/M.A. Iranian Studies and Intensive Persian at SOAS by the scholarship application deadline (For M.Phil./Ph.D. & M.A. scholarship)
  • Meet the English language condition of their offer of admission to study at SOAS as soon as possible but no later than 1 June 2022
Benefits

The selected students will receive a contribution towards fees for the following duration - 

  • M.Phil./Ph.D. scholarship -  3 years
  • M.A. Iranian Studies -  One year (or two years if part-time)
  • M.A. Iranian Studies and Intensive Persian -  Two years (or four years if part-time)
  • Undergraduate scholarship - One year

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship by following the steps mentioned below:

Step 1: Click on the "Apply Now" button below and read all details. 
Step 2: Navigate to the 'Scholarship Application Procedures' and click on the first link.
Step 3: Now, fill in the required details and submit the online application for admission.
Step 4: After successfully submitting the application for admission, click on the second link to complete the online scholarship form.
Step 5: Fill in the online scholarship application form and submit it by 23:59 (UK local time) on 2 May 2022.

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be assessed on academic merit by a Selection Panel consisting of three academic members. The assessment will be based on the information in the application. The selectors will be looking at degree results, academic references, statement of intent and full research proposal (for M.Phil./Ph.D. applicants), and other relevant information.

Terms and Conditions
  • Applicants with a non-UK master's degree must be in the top rank as evidenced by references and transcripts.
  • Applicants with a 2.1 can also apply but will not be given preference.
  • Applicants with a mark of merit can also apply but will not be given preference. 
  • The successful candidates will be notified by the end of July.
  • If the offer is conditional on English, the applicants must arrange an English test and ensure they meet the English requirements as soon as possible.
  • Please note that most scholarships do not cover funding or even allow for Pre-sessionals. Please check the wording of the scholarship offer carefully to the eligibility for a Pre-sessional course or whether the need to achieve SOAS direct entry scores by the deadline specified in the scholarship terms and conditions.
