About The Program

School of Transnational Governance at European University Institute invites applications for School of Transnational Governance (STG) Policy Leader Fellowship 2020 from early or mid-career professionals from around the world. This fellowship aims to provide a unique opportunity to policy professionals from around the world to further develop their policy work and professional skills. Selected fellows will receive a grant of EUR 2,500 per month.

To be eligible, an applicant must:

  • Be early- or mid-career professionals (e.g. in politics, civil service, media and non-governmental organisations)
  • Be able to demonstrate both professional experience and potential for future excellence in the policy sphere
  • Be genuinely engaged individuals involved in policy issues, especially those related to transnational governance
  • Be self-motivated, able to present a clear work plan for the fellowship to show what the applicant will achieve and how this work will have a ‘multiplier’ effect after the fellowship
  • Be a curious and engaged contributor
  • Be willing to be a part of the EUI community on a daily basis and to participate in peer discussions on topics which may be beyond his/her expertise
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English

The selected fellows will receive a fully-funded fellowship with a grant of EUR 2,500 per month.

Selection Criteria

Applicants will be reviewed by a committee consisting of the staff of the programme, policymakers and academics. Shortlisted candidates will have to attend the interview and then the final selection will be made by the EUI Executive Committee.

Terms and Conditions
  • The fellowships last for 5 or 10 months.
  • Fellows must live in the area of Florence for the duration of their Fellowship so that they can take an active part in the academic activities of the Robert Schuman Centre for Advanced Studies.
  • A household allowance of up to EUR 300 per month is paid to Fellows with a partner if the partner lives with them in Florence and on condition that the partner's income is less than EUR 2,000 per month.
  • There is a dependant allowance of EUR 200 per month for each dependent child if they live with the fellow in Florence.
  • No allowance is paid for dependent children over the age of 26.
