- The student must belong to SC/ST community.
- The applicant should be a permanent resident to the Karnataka State.
- The student should have admission letter for a postgraduation or above course from any of world’s top 200 universities.
- The field of study for the courses should not be outside Engineering & Management, Pure Sciences & Applied Sciences, Agricultural Sciences & Medicines, International Commerce, Accounting Finance, Humanities, Social Science & Law, Any other Symposia/Workshop/Seminar.
- An applicant should have 60% marks or equivalent grade in previously qualified degree.
- The age of applicant should be below 35 years as on 1 June 2017.
Benefits
The scholarship will cover:
- Tuition Fee- Actual as charged
- An annual maintenance allowance against accommodation & food up to INR 6 Lacs or 75% of the approximate cost quoted by the university, whichever is lower for each year of course duration.
- A contingency allowance for books, study tour, medical insurance etc. up to INR 75,000 for the entire course.
- Airfare from India to the nearest place to education institution & back to India.

Selection Criteria
The candidates will be called in for an interview where they will be judged by the selection committee.
Terms and Conditions
- 50% awards are reserved for women students, however, in case of adequate numbers are not found then male candidates will be selected at their place.
- Students with annual family income below INR 6 Lacs are eligible for 100% financial assistance and students having an annual family income between INR 6-10 Lacs are eligible for 33% financial assistance.
- In case of ST’s, the preference will be given to primitive tribes.
- Employed candidates are required to forward their application through their employer along with a no-objection certificate.
- The selected candidates are required to join their respective universities within 18 months of selection.
- In case a scholar violates any terms & condition of the bond then he will be liable to pay the entire amount along with 12% interest per annum to the Government.
- Selected candidates are required to submit six monthly reports from the University/Institution to the Indian Mission abroad.
