About The Program

Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL), Punjab invites applications for RGNUL Exagium 2019 which is an online International Essay Competition. Open to Undergraduates, Postgraduates and Research Scholars from diverse disciplines, the essay competition aims to enhance the reading, writing and analytical skills of students and engage them in the reading of Classics. The winners of the competition can win cash prizes worth up to INR 7000.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

The competition is open to the following:

  • Undergraduate students pursuing BALLB/BA/B.Sc./B.Com/BBA/B.Tech/MBBS or any other course
  • Postgraduate students pursuing MA/LLM//MSc./MPhil/PhD or any other course
  • Research scholars

Note: Students from any University/College from across the globe can enter the competition.

Benefits

The 3 best essays will be awarded cash prizes and certificates of merit in the following manner:

  • The 1st prize winner will receive an award of INR 7000
  • The 2nd prize winner will receive an award of INR 5000
  • The 3rd prize winner will receive an award of INR 3000
  • All the participants will be given Certificates of Participation

Note: The winners shall be intimated through e-mail and on their mobile numbers. The results of the competition can also be found on the RGNUL website.

How can you apply?

Follow the below steps to apply:

Step 1: Write a 2000-2500 word analytical essay on any of the Classics mentioned in the list here.
Step 2: Download the registration form and fill in the required details.
Step 3: Pay the registration fee online or in the form of a Demand Draft.
Step 4: Send the duly filled registration form along with the Essay, Institutional ID Proof and Demand Draft/e-receipt by email to exagium2016@rgnul.ac.in
Step 5: Alternatively, the documents can also be sent by Registered Post to the following address:

Note: The Demand Draft must be drawn in favour of Registrar, RGNUL, Punjab, payable at Patiala.

 

Important Dates
  • Deadline for online submission - 2 March 2019
  • Deadline for offline submission - 9 March 2019
  • Result declaration - Last week of April
Selection Criteria

The essays will be evaluated on a scale of total 50 marks based on the following factors:

  • Title - 5 marks
  • Originality - 5 marks
  • Analysis - 10 marks
  • Language - 20 marks
  • Coherence - 10 marks

Terms and Conditions
  • Participants must select a Classic from the given list and write an analytical essay on it.
  • The submitted essay should have an appropriate title.
  • The essay must be original, logical and coherent.
  • The essay should not be a summary.
  • The essay should discuss the major issues/themes of the selected text.
  • There should be proper evidence for the analysis.
  • Participants can also select two texts for the essay.
  • Plagiarism in any form will lead to disqualification.
  • The essay must be type-written in English, in Times New Roman, 12 font size and 1.5 line spacing.
  • The essay should be within the 2000-2500 word limit.
  • The entries must be in MS-Word format.
  • A maximum of two co-authors shall be allowed.
  • The authors shall receive a copy of the Book.
  • International participants can only apply online by submitting the soft copies.
  • The RGNUL students shall not be eligible for prizes but the best entries shall be felicitated with Certificates of Merit.

Registration fee

  • INR 1000 per entry
  • INR 1500 in case of co-authors
  • No registration fee for International participants and RGNUL students
