About The Program

Raman - Charpak Fellowship 2018 invites applications from highly qualified PhD students, who are registered at an Indian/French university/institution. The key objective of the fellowship is to offer these students an excellent opportunity to carry out a part of their research project in France/India, to promote new science and technology cooperation, to experience cross-cultural context and to establish professional relationships between the two countries.

An applicant must -
  • Be a citizen of India or France
  • Have registered for a PhD program at a recognized university/institution in India or France
  • Not be more than 30 years of age as on 1 April 2018. 
Benefits
The selected fellows will receive -
  • Fellowship support of EUR 1500 per month as daily expenses
  • Local travel
  • Accommodation charges
  • Social Security charges
  • Economy class air ticket of to and fro travel between India and France
  • Insurance coverage (health and travel) whichever is required
  • Administrative costs for registration and Visa (if any) 
  • Carte de Sejour (if any) 
  • Additional support of up to EUR 500 for participation in Workshop/Seminar during the tenure of the fellowship. 
  • TA/DA and accommodation charges (if any) 
Documents
  • A detailed description of the research proposal/plan of up to 5 pages in the prescribed format
  • An updated CV of up to 2 pages in the prescribed format with applicant's recent photograph, a summary of research interests and achievements, list of up to 5 relevant publications etc. 
  • A letter of recommendation issued by the PhD supervisor.
  • A short summary of the PhD work or PhD synopsis with the title of up to 2 pages. 
  • A letter of agreement issued from the proposed host supervisor in the fellowship lab. 
  • No objection certificate issued by the Head of the Institution. 
  • A recent photograph of the applicant. 
  • A scanned copy of the passport, including both front and back sides. 
  • Research experience letter or publications (if any)

Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship online through following steps -

Step 3: Fill in all required details. 
Step 4: Upload all supporting documents. 
Step 5: Finally submit the application.
Important Dates
Application start date - 12 April 2018
Application deadline - 31 May 2018
Result declaration - End of August (tentative) 
Starting date of fellowship - October 2018 onwards
