About The Program

Quad Fellowship 2025 is an initiative of the Governments of Australia, India, Japan, and the United States for master's and doctoral students in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) fields who are citizens of one of the participating countries. The fellowship is being administered by the Institute of International Education (IIE), a global not-for-profit organisation.

The programme is designed to build ties among the next generation of scientists and technologists from the four Quad countries and, starting in 2025, from the ten ASEAN member states. The selected candidates will receive a one-time award of $20,000 to be used for academic expenses and other benefits.

EligibilityDeadline Date: Closed

To be eligible, an applicant must: 

  • be a citizen or legal permanent resident of Australia, India, Japan, or the United States – or any of the 10 Southeast Asian Countries – Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, or Vietnam
  • be at least 18 years of age at the time of application submission
  • hold a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent in a STEM field by August 2025
  • have a demonstrated record of superior academic achievement at the undergraduate level

Note:-

  • Applicants must have already applied to an eligible STEM graduate program at a US-based university to begin the 2025-2026 academic year.
  • If applicants are currently enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program in the United States, they must be enrolled full-time in an eligible STEM graduate program for the full 2025-2026 academic year.
  • Clinical healthcare degree programs such as doctorates of medicine or Masters of nursing are ineligible.

  • Each Quad fellow will receive a one-time stipend of $20,000 to be used for academic expenses.

  • Upon completing the Quad Fellowship, senior fellows will join a thriving alumni network dedicated to driving innovation and research for positive societal impact.

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship opportunities by following the below-mentioned steps:

Selection Criteria

The candidates will be selected based on the following criteria:- 

Applications will be reviewed holistically by a diverse team of reviewers from each Quad country with expertise in STEM subject areas. We are looking for candidates who demonstrate the following qualities:

  • Academic excellence in STEM - Competitive applicants will have a record of demonstrated excellence in a STEM field through academic success and original research.
  • Passion for the intersection of science, society, and policy - Competitive applicants should demonstrate their interest and engagement not only in the sciences but also in the impact these fields can have on society and public policy. This could be demonstrated through research conducted, internships held, professional or academic indicators of commitment, or more.
  • Capacity to bridge differences - Competitive applicants should demonstrate interest and ability to build connections between individuals with differing cultural, socio-economic, and professional backgrounds.
  • Orientation toward results - Competitive applicants should have a demonstrated track record of producing tangible, successful, and positive results on past academic, professional, or extracurricular projects.
Terms and Conditions
  • The fellowship does not sponsor National passports or visas. The applicants are encouraged to inquire with the university as soon as possible about their visa assistance program.
  • The fellowship does not offer financial support for partners or dependents of accepted Fellows.
  • All interviews will be conducted virtually via Zoom.
  • Notifications and correspondence will be conducted solely through email.
