About The Program

Prof. C.R. Rao National Award in Statistics 2024-25 is an opportunity provided by the Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation to individuals with significant contributions in the field of statistics. The award aims to improve the system of official statistics in general and to develop innovative methods for solving the problems encountered in the field. The selected candidates will receive ₹5,00,000 and other awards.

To be eligible, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • be less than 45 years of age on 31st December 2025
  • have significant contributions in the field of statistics

Note:- Individuals who are/were a part of the selection process and their family members are ineligible for this award.

How can you apply?

Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Click ‘Register’ at the top right corner of the page.
Step 4: Fill the required details and click ‘Submit’ button.
Step 5: Enter the OTP received on the provided number and click ‘Verify OTP’ tab.
Step 6: Create a secure password and click the ‘Save’ button.
Step 7: Log in with valid credentials, select ‘National Award in Statistics 2025’ from the options and click ‘Nominate/Apply Now’ tab.
Step 8: Fill in the necessary information, upload the required documents and submit your application.

Note:- Applicants can be nominated by their respective institutions.

Selection Criteria

The candidate will be selected through a four-stage process:-

  • Primary Scrutiny by Subject Matter Division of MoSPI
  • Examination by Screening Committee
  • External Scrutiny Examination
  • Final Selection of the Nominee by Award Committee

The approving authority is the Hon’ble Minister of Statistics & Programme Implementation.
