About The Program
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) invites applications for Prime Minister's Special Scholarship Scheme (PMSSS) 2019-20 from students in J&K. Launched in the academic year 2011-12, the scholarship aims to support the youth of J&K in pursuing higher education outside the state. It facilitates the access of quality education to students so as to equip them with knowledge, skills, experience and training for higher academic level/profession. Students selected for PMSSS can benefit from a scholarship of up to INR 3 lakh per annum along with other grants. PMSSS is a merit-based scholarship for the J&K youth only.

The following are eligible for PMSSS:
- Students who are the domiciles of the state of J&K
- Students who have passed 10+2 exam from the J&K Board (JKBOSE) or CBSE affiliated schools located in J&K
- Students who have passed 10+3 Diploma from the J&K State Polytechnic for admission directly in the second year in the prescribed list of Colleges against on the vacant seats of the previous year
- Students having an annual family income of less than INR 8 lakh
Note: The following are not eligible for the scholarship-
- Students who do not apply through online registration on AICTE Portal
- Students enrolled in courses offered by Open University
- Students availing benefits from any other Govt./Non-Govt scheme
- Students who joined a college other than those in AICTE Portal
- Students taking admission through agents or NGOs
- Students pursuing any postgraduate programme
- Students absent during the counselling
Benefits
A total of 5000 scholarships will be awarded for students pursuing courses in General Degree, Engineering Degree, and Medical Streams. Students selected for the scholarship will receive the following benefits:
For General Degree:
- Up to INR 30,000 per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student)
- A total of 2070 scholarships to be offered
For Engineering Degree:
- Up to INR 1.25 lakh per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student)
- A total of 2830 scholarships to be offered
For Medical/BDS or Equivalent Medical Streams:
- Up to INR 3 lakh per annum for the academic fee (payable to the institution)
- Maintenance charges of INR 1 lakh per annum (payable to the student)
- A total of 100 scholarships to be offered

- Diploma Certificate (for lateral entry only)
- Valid Caste certificate for SC/ST/SEBC for claiming the reservation as per State Govt. Policy
- Valid disability certificate (if any)
How can you apply?
Follow the below steps to apply for PMSSS 2019-20:
Step 1: Visit the PMSSS 2019-20 registration portal.
Step 2: Select the category: '12th Registration' or 'Diploma Registration'.
Step 3: Fill the registration form with all the required details.
Step 4: Submit and correct any possible errors in the form.
Step 5: Verify the email through the link received on Email/SMS.
Step 6: Complete the registration.

Terms and Conditions
- After the submission of the application, it is necessary to verify the documents at the Facilitation Centre.
- The allotment of seats by AICTE will be done through online counselling only.
- The merit list of students will be displayed well before the first round of counselling result.
- The photo and signature uploaded on the portal should be in .JPG/.PDF/.PNG format with the size of the file not exceeding 2MB.
- The academic fee to the institution will be disbursed directly by AICTE.

Q. Are students passing 10+2 from Commerces stream eligible for engineering?
A. No. However, Commerce students can apply for the General course.
Q. Is document verification at Facilitation Centre necessary?
A. Yes. Students are not eligible for the scholarship without document verification.
Q. Is it possible to edit the application after submission?
A. Yes. The officer of facilitation centre can edit the online application form.
Q. What should the candidates do after the submission of online application form?
A. The candidates must take a print out of the filled application form and visit the nearest facilitation centre along with the original set of documents for verification.
Q. Will the candidates receive any document after the completion of verification?
A. The candidates must collect the student copy of the Document Verification Report from the facilitation centre.
