Prime Minister's Fellowship Scheme for Doctoral Research 2023

To be eligible, an applicant must -

• be an Indian national
• have taken admission in full-time Ph.D. degree in last 14 months from the date of submission of applications in any recognized Indian University/Institute/Research Laboratory (Note - In case of a different admission/enrollment date and registration date, the first date of Ph.D. admission will be considered)
• have practical relevance and industrial application
• complete all required academic qualifications in past
• have an industry partner to sponsor 50% of the fellowship

To be eligible, industry partners must -

• not be NGO or society organisations
• be registered under the Indian Company Act
• be a body corporate or a consortium of companies
• be research arms of companies and Research Institutes of companies
• be Multi-National Companies (MNCs)

A total of 100 fellowships of INR 10,41,000 per annum will be awarded to students.

50% of this amount will come from SERB [being equivalent to the prevailing Government norms for JRF/SRF (inclusive of HRA)] of a maximum of INR 5,20,000 per annum (including 10% management fee) and will be revised as per the JRF/SRF norms from time to time.

Rest 50% (matching equivalent of SERB component) will come from the partner industry co-applicant.

The applicants need to provide the following documents:

• Recent passport-size photograph
• No objection certificate (Note - This must be obtained by the research scholar)
• Ph.D. enrolment and registration certificate
• High school and Intermediate certificate
• Graduation/Postgraduation certificate
• Scan copy of other diploma certificate
• Profile of host institute
• Ph.D. supervisor's biodata (not more than three pages)
• Partner company's profile and its logo
• Industry mentor's biodata (not more than three pages)
• Undertaking from the Research Supervisor and Head of the Organization of the institute.
• Undertaking from the industry partner in the research project.
• Letter from the industry partner on the letterhead of the company with the research problem and the future plan for implementation details mentioned (if any)

Eligible candidates can apply for the fellowship by following the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button.
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required details to register. (Note - If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email Id.)
Step 3: Navigate to 'Student Registrations here' and click on it to register as a student.
Step 4: Download the Call for Proposal and Document Checklist.
Step 5: Tie up with a company and get the required undertakings signed by a valid signatory in the company as well as in the host institute.
Step 6: Collect all documents and make digital copies of each and fill the application form online (Note - The form cannot be downloaded and requires
net connectivity while filling) 
Step 7: Submit the application form.

Last date for online submission of form: Within 14 months from registration in PhD.
The scheme is open-ended and applications can be submitted through the portal of the Prime Minister Fellowship Scheme any time during the year.
