About The Program

Centrally Sponsored Scheme of Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Class 9 & 10), Goa 2024-25 is an opportunity provided by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India to provide financial assistance to Scheduled Tribe (ST) students in Goa who are enrolled in Classes 9 or 10. The scholarship aims to support these students' education and reduce dropout rates as they transition from elementary to secondary school. Selected candidates will receive a scholarship of up to ₹5,250 per annum and other grants.

To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must:-

  • be an Indian national
  • be a domicile of Goa
  • belong to the Scheduled Tribe (ST) community
  • be a regular full-time student studying in Class 9 or 10 in a government school or a school recognised by the Government or a Central/State Board of Secondary Education
  • have an annual family income of less than ₹2,50,000   
  • not be receiving any other centrally-funded Pre-Matric Scholarship

Note:- If a student is awarded two scholarships simultaneously, they may choose one and must formally communicate their preference to the awarding authorities through their institution's head.

Benefits

Selected scholars will receive a consolidated allowance as follows:-

Note:- In addition to the scholarship, Divyangjan students will receive an additional monthly grant of ₹800 (₹9,600 annually) if they reside in a hostel, or ₹600 (₹7,200 annually) if they are day scholars. Disability, as defined by the Act, must be certified by a competent medical authority of the State Government or Union Territory Administration. These disability allowance provisions also extend to leprosy-cured students and those with sickle cell anemia or thalassemia, upon providing the necessary certificate.

Note:- 

  • State or Union Territories may determine the specific procedures and authorities responsible for issuing certificates.
  • Self-declarations or affidavits of self-assessed income will not be accepted. State governments must establish designated authorities to issue income certificates.
How can you apply?

Eligible applicants can apply for the scholarship through the following steps:-
Step 1: Click on the 'Apply Now' button below. 
Step 2: Click on the 'Register' button and fill in the required registration details. (Note:- If already registered, log in using Gmail/Mobile number/Email ID)
Step 3: Navigate to the 'Students' option on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 4: Now, click on the 'Login' button under the OTR option as it is required to apply for a scholarship on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).
Step 5: Click on the 'New user? Register yourself' on the left-hand side of the dashboard and click on it.
Step 6: Read the details carefully, tick the checkbox, and click on the 'Next' button.
Step 7: Enter a functional mobile number, captcha code, and OTP, then submit to complete the registration process.
Step 8: Fill in the required details and click on 'Save & Register' to complete the 'One-time registration (OTR)' process. (Note:- This is a temporary registration number, students need to download the OTR mobile application for face authentication to complete the OTR process.)
Step 9: After successful registration, navigate to the 'Apply for Scholarship' option and click on the 'Login' button.
Step 10: Select the scholarship, fill in the required details, upload the necessary documents and submit.

Note:- All the applicants are advised to fill in the information correctly on the application form. Once the application is submitted, no changes can be made. Additionally, submitting multiple applications will result in disqualification.

The candidates will be selected based on the fulfilment of the eligibility criteria.

Terms and Conditions
  • The scholarship is awarded for one academic year and cannot be extended for repeating a class.
  • Scholarship payments are made for ten months of the academic year.
  • Students receiving the scholarship in Class 9 may renew it for Class 10, subject to good behaviour and regular attendance.
  • The income certificate is required only once, at the time of course admission.
  • The Government of India reserves the right to modify the scheme's provisions at any time.
  • Students residing in a state different from their domicile state will be awarded a scholarship by their home state.
  • Aadhaar authentication is mandatory for renewal unless previously provided.
  • The scholarship may be renewed for the first year of a postgraduate course, subject to good behaviour and 75% attendance.
  • Renewal for the following year requires an annual progress report from the university/institution/college head.
  • Students unable to attend the annual exam due to illness may still renew their scholarship by providing a medical certificate from an approved authority, subject to institutional approval.
  • Students who pass to the next class but have outstanding exams may still receive the scholarship if they meet other criteria and the university/institute approves.
  • If a student fails and repeats a class, the scholarship will continue for one additional year or the duration of the repeated class, whichever is shorter.
  • If both parents are employed, their combined income from all sources is considered for calculating total family income.
  • Income from family members other than parents is excluded from the total family income calculation.
  • If only one parent is alive, their income is considered for calculating total family income. Income from siblings and other family members is excluded.
  • Orphans supported by a guardian are exempt from income criteria.
