The Department of Welfare of Plains Tribes & Backward Classes, Government of Assam invites applications for Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Class 1 to 8) 2018-19, Assam from students of class 1 to 8. The scholarship is applicable for candidates who are the domiciles of Assam. Under this scheme, the ST students fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be provided financial support in order to improve the level of education among poor ST students.

DeadlineClosed Eligibility To be eligible for this scholarship, an applicant must-
- Be studying in class 1 to 8
- Have an annual family income not exceeding INR 50,000
- Belong to Scheduled Tribe (ST)
- Be a domicile of Assam
- Be enrolled in institutions and courses duly recognised by the Government of Assam
Benefits The students selected for this scholarship will receive an amount of INR 25 to 100 per month. Thus, each student will receive up to INR 1200 per annum.
How can you apply? Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship through following steps -
Step 1: Click on New Student? Register Here.
Step 2: Select the state of domicile, select the name of the scholarship the student is applying for, select scheme type, write the name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email ID.
Step 3: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFS Code, Account Number).
Step 4: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated.
Step 5: Login using OTP and fill the form.
Step 6: An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for future references.Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill only one application as multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of the form.

- The scholarship is fully funded by the Government of Assam, thus giving the state a 100% share.
- The scholarship aims to support the education of school going children of poor ST parents whose annual income falls the double poverty line.
- The duration of scholarship in an academic year will be for 12 months.
