Minorities & Backward Classes welfare Department, Govt. of Odisha invites Online applications for award of Post Matric Scholarships Scheme for Minorities, for the year 2016-17 to meritorious students of Odisha belonging to the notified Minority Communities (i.e. Muslim, Christian, Buddhist, Sikh, Zoroastrian (Parsi) and Jain) studying in recognized Institutions inside Odisha and other States within India from Class XI up to Ph.D Courses.

    Eligibility
    • Students must be permanent resident of Odisha.
    • Income ceiling of parents shall not exceed Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum.
    • Minimum eligibility mark is 50%, secured in the last final examination of the Board/ University.
    • 30% scholarship is earmarked for girl students. 
    How can you apply?
    1. The scheme is implemented through National Scholarship Portal (NSP). It is mandatory for all students to apply online on the website of this Ministry i.e.www.scholarships.gov.in.
    2. The list of documents to be scanned & uploaded for both Fresh and Renewal Scholarships as under:
    • Student Photo. (Mandatory).
    • Institution Verification Form. (Mandatory).
    • Self declaration of Income Certificate by the student. (Mandatory).
    • Self declaration of community by the student. (Mandatory).
    • In case of Fresh: Self Attested Certificate of ‘Previous Academic Mark sheet’ as filled in Form. (Mandatory).
    • In case of Renewal: Self-Attested Certificate of Previous Year Marksheet as filled in the Form. (Mandatory).
    • Fee Receipt of current course year. (Mandatory).
    • Proof of Bank Account in the name of student. (Mandatory).
    • Aadhaar Card (optional).
    • Residential Certificate. (Mandatory)
Terms and Conditions

DISTRIBUTION
Muslim, Christian, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of the above notified minorities in the States/ Union Territories of Census 2001.

EARMARKING FOR GIRL STUDENTS
30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.

SELECTION PROCEDURE
Unlike scholarship for SC and ST, there are a fixed number of scholarships for minorities is small and limited. Students from BPL families, having the lowest income shall be given preference in the ascending order. The renewal applications would be fully exhausted before the new applications are considered.

DURATION
Scholarship will be provided for the entire course. However, maintenance allowance will be given for a period not exceeding 10 months only in an academic year.
