About The Program

Post Matric Scholarship for Students with Disabilities 2018-19 invites applications from students with more than 40% disability who are studying at the post-matric level from class 11 to postgraduation. The key objective of the scholarship is to support the students with disabilities for their studies in class 11 to postgraduation and prepare them to earn their livelihood and find a dignified place for themselves in the society.

An applicant must -
  • Have more than 40% disability (certified by competent medical authority of the state government or UTs)
  • Be studying in class 11 to postgraduation level from a recognized Board of Secondary Education or University
  • Have an annual family income of less than INR 2.50 Lac from all sources
Note: Students who are pursuing their studies through correspondence/distance learning are also eligible to apply for the scholarship.
Benefits
The selected scholars will receive -
  • Maintenance allowance of up to INR 1600 per month to hostellers and up to INR 750 per month to the day scholars.
  • Disability allowance of up to INR 4000 per annum. 
  • Reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees of up to INR 1.50 Lac per annum excluding the refundable deposits like security deposit and caution money. 
  • Book allowance of INR 1500 per annum.

How can you apply?
Eligible candidates can apply for the scholarship online through following steps -
Step 1: Visit the National Scholarship Portal
Step 2: Click on 'New Student? Register Here'
Step 3: Select the state of domicile, select the name of the scholarship the student is applying for, select scheme type, write the name, date of birth, mobile number, gender, email ID
Step 4: Provide the bank details (Bank name, IFS Code, Account Number)
Step 5: The mobile number will be verified and an OTP will be generated
Step 6: Login using OTP and fill the form
Step 7: An application ID and password will be generated. Use that for the future references.
Note: All the applicants are advised to fill the form correctly, no changes can be made once submitted. The applicants are also advised to fill only one application as multiple applications will lead to the cancellation of the form.
Selection Criteria
The scholars will be selected by taking the following factors into consideration -
  • Fulfilment of eligibility conditions as mentioned in the scheme guidelines. 
  • Recommendation of the State Education Department.
  • The number of slots available in the state. 
  • Academic merit of the student in terms of percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. 
  • In case, there is a tie in the percentage of marks, the percentage of disability will be considered for making a preference.

  • 50% of the total scholarships available every year are reserved for the girl candidates. In case, adequate number of girl candidates are not available, the unutilized slots can be utilized by selecting a suitable male candidate. 
  • Students who are pursuing two different courses simultaneously can avail the scholarship only for one course provided pursuance of such courses are permissible under the rules/regulations of concerned educational authority. 
  • If a student is employed and his/her income combined with the income of their parents/guardians is not exceeding the maximum prescribed income ceiling, he/she can apply for the scholarship to an extent of reimbursement of all compulsorily payable non-refundable fees. 
  • The scholarship award will be tenable for the duration of the course subject to regularity in attendance and good conduct of the students. 
  • The amount of scholarship will be directly credited into the bank account of beneficiaries through the PFMS system by the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.
